German Shepherds
The pack
The pack lives with the family in the routine of everyday life, and every dog is trained, even if the goal is not, for example, to participate in trials. In addition to German Shepherds, the pack includes a few mixed-breed dogs, and there is always a place for a rescue dog in the pack.
Personally, I prefer taking an adult dog, as you can see health results, physical build and the final character of an older individual. I'd rather take a one or two-year-old dog with whom training can start immediately, and the majority of dogs have joined the pack as adults. There are exceptions, such as my own breeding, some of which have been at home since they were puppies.
The dogs also stay at home until the end, so their retirement years are spent with the family, occasionally training, depending on the dog's health and desires.
